چکیده
(w ww .m ed kn ow .co m) . Monoclonal antibodies (MAbs), a new class of biological agents, are used these days in therapeutics and diagnosis. MAbs also labeled as ‘magic bullets’, are highly specific Department of Pharmacology, antibodies produced by a clone of single hybrid cells formed in the laboratory by fusion Christian Medical College and of B cell with the tumor cell. The hybridoma formed yields higher amount of MAbs. Hospital, Ludhiana, India MAbs can be produced in vitro and in vivo. Animals are utilized to produce MAbs, but these antibodies are associated with immunogenic and ethical problems. Monoclonal Antibodies
SUMMARY Monoclonal Antibodies are identical antibodies and Can be generated in ultimated amounts by countinuos cultures of single antibody- secreting cells. These cell lines are produced by cell fusion of normal lymphocytes to cells of a myeloma tumor cell line, which confers on the antibody producing hybrid cell, immortality and the ability grow as atumor in animals. monoclonal antibodies c...
متن کاملProduction and Characterization of Murine Monoclonal Antibodies to Leishmania Gp63 Antigen
Background : Production of monoclonal antibodies to Leishmania antigens assists the identification and characterization of these organisms. Objective: Production of monoclonal antibodies against epitopes on the gp63. Methods: Two murine monoclonal antibodies to gp63 were produced and characterized. The reactions of both antibodies with soluble leishmanial antigens, purified gp63 and truncated r...
متن کاملTherapeutic Applications of Monoclonal Antibodies in Multiple Sclerosis
Despite the various therapies available, the use of monoclonal antibodies is a highly specific approach that has only recently been of interest to researchers. The properties of antibodies have led to their use in the treatment of various diseases, including cancer, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes and multiple sclerosis (MS). MS, a chronic inflammatory disease, occurs commonly in young adults. Th...
متن کاملMonoclonal and Polyclonal Antibodies Specific to Human Fibromodulin
Background: The unique expression of fibromodulin (FMOD) in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) has been previously reported. Detecting FMOD in CLL patients using specific anti-FMOD mAbs might provide a promising method in detection, monitoring, and prognosis of CLL. Objectives: In this study, we aimed for producing specific antibodies agains...
متن کاملDevelopment of monoclonal antibodies against axenic amastigotes of Leishmania infantum strain in Iran: Implication for diagnosis of Kala-azar
Objective(s): Leishmaniasis is endemic in 88 countries. Amastigote forms of Leishmania are experts at exploiting host cell processes to establish infection. Monoclonal antibodies are key reagents used in the diagnosis of infectious and non-infectious diseases. The aim of this study was to produce monoclonal antibodies against axenic amastigotes of the Leishmania infantum strain in Iran.Material...
